nettopp for slike litt vanskelige oppgaver.
It so happens that you get opportunities you had not anticipated, and – a few days ago just that happened. I suddenly woke up in the middle of my night’s sleep and did not quite understand for what reason. A little sleepy, I wandered into the toilet and further into the living room. Why had I really woken up? Had it been a sound? Was it snowing? Or mild weather? Unusually cold? But – eventually things fell into place: Not particularly cold: Minus 2.4 degrees C.! A quick glance out the window told me that maybe I should be a little more interested in what was going on out there? It was admittedly only 04.30 A.M. in the morning and it was pitch dark outside, but with a moon desperately struggling to penetrate a relatively solid cloud cover. Too dark to take any picture!
But – then I recalled this ‘night program’ that was made just for such slightly difficult tasks. ‘Difficult’ because the program requires that you keep the camera absolutely still in the minutes it takes the camera to perform its magic, but – without making an attempt, you do not get a result? And when truth be told, it did not turn out too bad, did it?
Now – the moon is 385,000 km from Earth, so really all house walls facing the camera should be lying in ‘moon shadow’? Still, these buildings look quite bright and pleasant?
I have no other explanation than that the moon may be lighting up the snow in the area just enough for the camera to understand that there is some light in this night after all, and that it is therefore may highlight snow reflections to some degree?

Please return me to INDEX for a new picture/destination.

Quite dramatic.
Beautiful clouds and sky!
Thank you!
That is stunning
Thank you! Nice to have you back!
Unbelievable!
Hi there, Paola! It is – kind of, but the reality is there – documented for you all to see!
For all I know, the moon might be shining every night
(but I do not! 🙂 )
Fortunately this time I caught it – sharing with you all!
Sorry, of course my “unbelievable” was the surprise to see so much light during the night, even if due to the reflection of the snow. Very beautiful picture!
I did understand you right the first time, Paola. I was kind of surprised myself! But the I usually sleep this time of night!
I regularly wake up in the night, yet I don’t look outside.- probably I should…. this looks great what you found!
Well, Ute, as you know, Life does come without guarantees . . .! 🙂
That said: If you do not look, you won’t be seeing all that much!
Just imagine what we would be missing out on it we did not take an interest in macro photography (just to mention one thing only)? There is something going on everywhere!
Like the Ukraine these days? Shutting you eyes has become a risk through the last weeks!
That is a spectacular shot! It must have sent vibes so you would capture its beauty.
Something like that, Eugie? I have no idea why I suddenly woke up. It was pich black in our sleeping room (curtains drawn). Then there is the expression: ‘Moon struck’, but not quite the same, I guess? 🙂
It’s a very unusual shot! I’ve not seen anything like it even in the photo sites that I use.
He he! Well I must be a special kind of guy then?
He, he, yes, I expected you would! And thank you!
I note you mentioned toilet first….. but as a fellow old man I guess understand 😕 magical moonscape.
