Hunting the Best Focus

Most people who pursue photography as a hobby have probably discovered that it is not completely indifferent ‘where’ or ‘what’ is being used as the ‘chosen focus point’? Still there are millions of people just raising the camera and pressing the shutter button!
The choice of ‘focus point’ has the greatest significance for how the final result – the image – will look like! My call to everyone is therefore to experiment with different techniques, different focus points, colors and / or contrasts – even different filters – until the camera may deliver the best possible or desired result: Seen from the other side: Unfortunate choice of focus point can totally ruin an image that could otherwise have qualified for ‘best motive of the year’!

mulig panorama-motiv.

I also shoot my pictures in different directions. That way I may utilize light coming in from
ever new angles. And like in this picture, I may also shoot in wide-screen in order to get a best possible panorama motif.

Here I’m shooting a picture in the exact different direction to where the sunset is taking place: Towards ‘due East’! On several occasions there may be just as many motives in the
Eastern sky – provided on remember to throw a glance in that direction once in a while!

Whilst we have been studying the Eastern sky, other things have been taking place in the West! At this very moment, things are really looking up? And if this cloudbank on the horizon is coming this way, things could get exiting – really!
Vi er heldige!  Vi er midt i forventet kurslinje! Dette kan bli fantastisk!

We are in luck! It looks like we will be directly in ‘the line of fire’ and – this could turn out to be fantastic!

Himmelen eksploderte i farger!
And did we make it tonight!? The sky virtually exploded in colors! And I guarantee that
it will be som time before something like this happens again! Please enjoy the colors
of this exhibition in the sky!

  1. Wow, the intense colours are beautiful! The color is original?

    • Seenorway says:

But, of course! That said, colors as well as light intencity will change with the choice of focus point, thus choosing a dark spot and everything lights up, or choosing a relatively light spot the picture turns darker. It is the same with colors! I usually play the nature by dipping my phone a bit back and forth, watching how my screen changes, shooting the picture just at the right moment. You may say that nature shows me the grand scale of things, but leaves it up to me to take the best choice!

  2. Wow! Every photo in this series is gorgeous! Have a wonderful day! ❤

You are so welcome, Ute, and thank you! Yes, nature can be very impressive at times, but it is very much about being at the right place at the right time. If it had not been for my wife, we might have missed out on this one! 🙂
