Miss Mahonia Aquifolium

For et romantisk klingende navn? Smak på det: Mahonia Aquifolium!
Jeg har alltid lurt litt på hva denne vakre planten egentlig heter, og i år bestemte jeg meg for å grave meg frem til sannheten.  Denne planten har egentlig ikke noe å gjøre i vår natur. Den kommer opprinnelig fra USA’s nordlige del av den såkalte Vestkysten og der går den under navnet ‘The Oregon Grape’! Hvordan den kom til oss vet jeg faktisk ikke, men  den har vokset seg stor og sterk i vår hage over de siste 45 år!!! Og her er den!
What a romantic-sounding name? Taste it: Mahonia Aquifolium!
I’ve always wondered what this beautiful plant is really called, and this year I decided to dig into the truth. This plant really has nothing to do in our nature. It is originally from the US northern part of the so-called West Coast and there it goes by the name ‘The Oregon Grape’! How it came to us I do not know, but it has grown big and strong in our garden over the last 45 years !!! And here it is!

    It really is beautiful, Svein. Such a stunning and vivid color! You should be able to use the Classic editor until Jan. 1, 2022. Even you get stuck in the Gutenberg editor, it is not difficult to insert photos.

      Now, I can handle the bit about photos although I prefer to see what I do when I do it. Not when I click on publish! And – as you may have noticed, I use different colors on Norwegian and English text. Also, I provide links to Index in all posts, and these details present themselves as a major problem in this new fancy editor.
      I just won’t have that darned thing forced on me! So if their plan is to remove the old classic editor by the end of 2021, I’ll be leaving in good time before then!
      So will a lot of others, I believe!
      They could leave the old editor as a free option, and everyone would be happy!

        I agree! I use the new editor and feel it is not user friendly. I like to frequently audit my blogs and when going into some of my older posts, the images were messed up. I couldn’t even fix them and ended up putting many posts back to draft.

          It may be to a programmer, but not to me! And somehow I think a programmer reaching 83 (like me) also would have something to say in such matters. You just wait and see! 🙂

    It looks beautiful, I have never seen it. It has spikey leaves. The blooms are lovely and so colourful.

    Nice images of the golden blossoms, the wild bees love so well!
    From my parents, there is still such an old mahonia in our garden, planted by them or by the birds in the seventies. It does’nt grow much anymore, but it is always enjoyable to see it in bloom every springtime.

      Yes, it is a very nice looking plant and very decorative. Little did I know that it might turn out to be the very last picture I would be publishing here on WordPress?
      I haven’t got it confirmed as of yet, but something happened at midnight yesterday?
      It looks as if we no longer have access to the Old Classic Editor? And if so, then it’s all over for me! Unfortunately, but there it is!

        I noticed some new advertisement for “creating more traffic” but I still can use my old editor.

        Did you try already these ways?

        1. Go to “My Sites”, click on “WP-Admin”, deep down in the left side bar

        2. write as adress:
        https://yourblogname.wordpress.com/wp-admin/post-new.php
        – replace “yourblogname” with the name of your blog, obviously.

        3. look here for advice:

        Dear Svein, I hope, some of these or another person might help you.

          Thanks for the advice, but if I should have to use such complicated measures to get admission to my own blog, I would be leaving anyway!
          I have not asked for a new editor, and as long as the classic version works. I have no intension of making things more complicated than I have to.
          Fortunately, I believe this to be a programming fault? I don’t think I was ever meant to be shunted to the new editor, but I was! And there were no way back! Not before I desperately tried to click on ‘visual’ top right-hand corner. Then my ‘backdoor’ opened!
          It’s OK with a new editor for those that want one, but the Old Classic should remain as a free option to those that prefer that one!
          So – if they stick to their plan and terminate the Old Classic by the end of 2021, I’ll be gone long before!
