Peculiar Cloud Forms

Idag var en av de dagene hvor himmelen viser ganske uvanlige skyformasjoner og – man kan jo bare gjette hva som egentlig foregår der oppe når slikt skjer?
Today was one of these days where the sky forms peculiar cloud forms. One may wonder what’s really taking place high up there when such as this happens?

No, it’s definitely not! I’m no specialist to these things, however, it seems that here we have to very different cloud systems ‘colliding’, so to speak? The one to your left is a normal looking cloud that we see nearly every afternoon this time of the year, but the white one to your right is a very different one coming in from the East, It could be cirrus-related? If so – it’s way higher than the other one, probably driven by jet streams (but I’m only presenting a wild guess here) but not seen as often as the regular one!

The white wispy cloud is fascinating but I have no idea what causes this. It doesn’t appear to be a result of a vapor trail. Interesting shot, Svein.
