meteorologene hadde tatt feil – igjen?! Men nei, denne gang hadde de truffet blinken!
After having observed much ‘spring-like’ indications in early March, most people believed that we would all be enjoying an early warm and pleasant – may be even sunny – spring?
We had hear about nothing but global warm-ups for the last 6-8 years.
So when the shocking message came: ’20-25 inches of snow over the next 12 hours’ most of us believed the weather forcasters to have missed out – again!? But no, as i turned out – this time they’ve hit the nail on the head – exactly!
The morning arrived and most of our surroundings were all covered in 20-25 inches of wet heavy snow!
This pile of snow directly outside of our doorway is something like 8 feet high and massive! And if you may be wondering about the somewhat strange color of snow, it’s because this particular shot was made late in the evening- in what we call ‘the blue hour’ when the sun is decending under the horizon and when most anything take on a soft lilac blue coloring.
But the air is clean and sharp and at times nature will compensate for all the heavy shoveling of snow through the day – if you happen to have a camera near by? And that we have! Thus you may all be able to share this beautiful evening?!
Compliments of PMR)
Please return me to INDEX for a new picture/destination.
Beautiful fire in the sky! 🙂
Thank you! And who needs a fire brigade?!
You’re welcome !! 🙂
Goodness Svein, looks like Winter is still keeping you in its grip.. Thankfully here in the UK we have a better week, seeing the Sun at last..
Amazing pictures my friend 🙂
Due to the maps we see on a daily basis where the producer of such maps place each country squarely in the middle of a page, thus we seem to be loosing all feelings how the location stands up to the surrounding areas/countries. Looking at a large scale map we are pretty far North compared to most of the UK, you know?!
Haha… I know lol, hehe…. And you get Far far much more snow and harsh winters than we do, I know.. 🙂 but it seems you had snow early on .. Our Spring has yet time to trick us… it has before.. But I am hoping Spring is arriving at last.. 😀
Well, Sue, you just can’t tell these days. In the old days the snow was to be expected to hit us last week of September/First week of October and last us to the end of April, but nothing much is like it is before. Not politics (nor ‘Brexit’, and certaily not the weather.
A couple of years back the first snow hit us January 7th ( ! ) and the spring started round about February 10th !!! (Not that I mind very much!)
Yes, the weather like politics are all over the place.. 🙂
So right, – in Europe as in the U.S:
All over,
Right! 🙂
Just a little snow then…… in our part of the UK we still haven’t had any, just gales and heavy rain this week to dampen our spirits (though Brexit debates already do that!) 🙂
A lot of noise with absolutely no result!
From the outside:
What did that ‘Speaker og the House’ have for breakfast?! 🙂
Tough trying to control a large pack of delinquents….. Very sad situation
And very different to what we usually observe from our Scandinavian capitals, but then you’re not alone in this ‘strange club of governments’. From other parts of the world we observe delegates throwing shoes at each other, even starting a fist fight for all delegates to watch. It’s really getting to be a strange world around us . . . 🙂
Lovely snow pictures specially with the blue sky! Your skies at night are also fascinating!
Thank you, but it wasn’t really ‘night’ – just yet. From the sun decends down under the horizon it’s still kind of lilac light for another hour before it becomes substantially darker,
but the exiting news is that my phone camera seems to handle that hour and more with ease, and that opens a few new possibilities to me! 🙂
Snow looks so beautiful.
Right! Yes, but I’ve got a wonderful cure for that feeling:
Grab a shovel and start working! 🙂
As long as it doesn’t end up in our yard, I’d probably enjoy it too! (Puh!)
I’m sure, I have heard it is very slippery too!
Oh, yes – definitely. Especially if there’s ice underneath and a bit of wet snow on the top!
Then you’ll have no warning what-so-ever!
Men!
And definitely not at my age! 🙂
Wow! Beautiful but, c’mon – 8 ft is a lot of snow! Reminds me of when I lived in NJ during the blizzard of 1996. We had snow to the top of our front door. We lived in an apartment so someone else had to plow and shovel it.
It’s definitely a lot of snow, and now – after night temperatures stabilized themselves at 5-8 degrees below zero, it’s frozen rather solid. I won’t even attempt to reduce it. Sometime soon there must be plus-temperatures and rain coming . . .?
Wow! Stay safe!
Beautiful snow & sky photos. The massive pile of snow reminds me of Maine (USA) winters when I was a kid. Fun for us, but not for the adults! 📚🎶 Christine
