‘King Winter’ has finally arrived in earnest and taken control of most of our country, – also through the lowlands where we usually have very little snow, we’ve got far more than usual. Actually we haven’t seen this much snow in the lowlands since 2010!
And – even if Norwegian car owners are more used to driving on snow than the larger parts of Europe, this volume of snow have created chaos on our roads. Probably partly because withing the transport business we find a number of ‘new citizens’ not particularly familiar with snow. And since they handle large vehicles like trailers, busses and the likes, roads are quickly blocked when something happens!
On the other hand tha snow creates a special atmosphere, and even if I have done this also on other occasions, I grabbed my camera and went out for a stroll through my neighborhood. These are pictures from that stroll. Please enjoy!

Please notice how the ice fasten itself to twigs and buds, growing ever larger and heavier untilt the twig simply snaps . . .
Og idag kommer det ytterligere 30-40 cm . . .
And today another 15 inches are coming down . . .

Please return me to INDEX for a new picture/destination.
I love sceneries of Your photos. They incredible beautiful. Thank You showing them.
Thank you! We’re into a cold spell, but soon comes spring! (I hope!)
Dette er jo helt utrolig nydelig!! For noen flotte bilder.
Beautiful sights of winter.
Thank you!
We’ve hardly had any snow this winter!!! Breathtakingly beautiful!!!
Hi Jen –
No snow this winter? And where is that? England?
No. Colorado in the United States. We’ve had snow just not as much as normal. It’s been a weird winter here.
I guess you may not have seen my comment above Svein.. xxx
Now I have! 🙂
🙂 So now you know why I have been absent.. 🙂
Well, I have noticed that you disappear from time to time, – among other tihings ‘to paint’ and to support friends/family when needed. We all do what we need to do, I guess.
And as long as you always return . . . 🙂
I will always return my friend.. ALways 🙂 xxxx
These Photos Svein and just magnificent.. I wonder why it is your skies always seem so much more blue than ours LOL.. Lovely looking scenes that are breath taking.
We had snow all morning here that settled then it turned to rain.. Some places in the UK had floods as snow and heavy rain came off the hills.. So lucky where we are.
Hope you are well my friend.. I have been emerging my self in my art and painting.. I posted over the weekend. But shall head back into my paints for the rest of the week..
Sending thoughts your way my good friend.. And hope you forgive me if I have missed loads of your recent posts..
Good to catch this one in the reader as I trawl though today.. 😀
Enjoy the rest of your week…
Hugs Sue 🙂 🙂
Beautiful snow photographs. Thank you, Love, nia
Thank you, Nia!
Gorgeous shots. Landscapes with fresh snow are so pristine. We have had more snow here in Atlanta, GA, which is unusual for this area. The city shuts down because no one knows how to drive in snow, however, the highways through Atlanta are some of the main routes for truckers. Snow and black ice create major problems in this area.
Thank you, Eugenia –
Yes,- even here where we are used to drive in such conditions, troubles are hard to avoid.
Mainly because trailers and iother large vehiclkes are driven by people coming in frtom Southern Europe – not used to such condition, bad tyres, no chains and – problems!
Such as totally blocked main roads!
Snow landscape is always wonderful, thank you.
You’re welcome, Paola!
Just a ‘little’ snow then!….. Enjoy the beauty of it. 10.30 Sunday and our first snow of this year (and only the 2nd of the winter) has just started. Broken our spell of sunny days for a while 🙂
With such amount you don’t have to worry about snow shovels, but – to get pictures like these we need some snowfalls.
Svein, I love these beautiful snow photos! Even though beautiful to look at, I know the perils of traveling in snow. Reminds me of severe winters in Maine as a kid. I saved a few in my gallery so I can see them again. Stay safe on the road! ☃️ Christine
Don’t you worry, Christine! My first drivers license was issued in 1956 and I have been driving ever since! 🙂
