The Slidrefjord is, in spite of its name, an inland lake surrounded by beautiful nature and a few interesting old churches, located to the upper parts of the district of Valdres!
The sun was shining where I was standing, but not very co-operative when it came to lighting the rest of my motive. Just enough to enable me to share the experience with you all!
(Compliments of SRB)
Please return me to INDEX for a new picture/destination.
Beautiful scene and it’s amazing the churches have withstood nature for over 1000 years.

Well, it’s the stav church that is that old. The two others are in concrete of which one is built in 1914 but the other one I’m a bit uncertain . . .
Perhaps somewhere around 12-1400 . . .?

I think you’d like it there. No less than 3 churches in the area, of which 2 at least have a history going back nearly 1000 years!
