The Beauty Queen

Men hva vet vel jeg? Kanskje er denne spesielle arten bygget for overvintering?
It’s tempting to name this ‘the beauty queen of Ustaoset’, but probably not everyone will agree? That’s how it is in real life as well! But – it’s a bit exiting to watch that here – close to the snow temperature limit – they are crawling into the sun hoping the heat will help them grow wings that may carry them to safety? But what do I know? Perhaps is this particular species built for hibernating?

  1. Wonderful looking Caterpillar.. I always wonder where they go.. We found lots of caterpillars climbing our garden shed walls.. I think they nestle in the eves of the under-hang over winter .. 🙂

When in doubt, you may breed them! Cut the twig it’s feeding on, Place the twig and the caerpillar in a large jar and close the top with paper and an elastic band. Then penetrate the paper with a fork 5-10 times to let the air in and leave it on a kitchen shelf.
In a few weeks you’ll have a butterfly!

Well, as much I don’t care for creepy crawlies, she is rather pretty.

    Så veldig stooor ut?

    • Seenorway says:

Så vakker, og kanskje også sårbar?
