Garden Patrol

Tomorow the forecast reads ‘Rain’! It seems that some of my friends over at the British Isles haven’t quite managed to use it all? But then I’d better prepare? And use the day as best I can? So I set out on my ‘garden patrol’ in ordxer to check that everything was ready for a wet tomorrow? By the way, this plant is supposedly named ‘Burning love’?! Let’s hope that the rains will not extinguish the ‘flames’?

But – then I discovered that I was not alone in the garden this morning! In my first picture he was lying kind of low, and only the tip of his nose was visible over the edge, but taking a step to the side, there was nowhere to hide and I was no longer alone!
Vertikalt ‘take off’, selvfølgelig! Elegant ble det også!

But when became close he took off. Vertical take-off, that is! And very elegant too!

And to really rub it in, demonstrating his superiority (and my inadequacy ), he performed a neck breaking maneuver that would probably made seasoned pilots to gasp with envy?! One may really pose the question about who’s actually ‘patrolling this garden’?
Å stå stille i samme punkt til tross for motvind? Intet problem!

Hovering in the same position in spite of headwinds? No problem at all!
Could you possibly hold that position coming in from the North? That way I’d get you in a different profile . . .?
Litt til, kanskje?
A bit more, perhaps?
Oooops, I think your gyro have crashed. Now you’re coming in from the South!

I’m sorry, my friend! There’s absolutely no faults to my gyro, but perhaps a small very local brain damage due to the fact that some of this nectar have been fermenting in the sun, which is very nice, but that sometimes execute slight navigational errors on my part! Did it look OK this time?

He fooled you! Just like intended! This is a defenseless flower fly evolved into something looking like a bee with a defense. 🙂

Stunning photos and that is one determined bee. Perhaps, a little too much fermented nectar or just testing the best angle for patrolling the garden.
