Let it be said from the very beginning: Utne is a rather tiny place, beautifully located on the tip of the peninsula between the ‘Soerfjord’ and the ‘Hardanger fjord’. The main activity in this area is the production of fruits, but over many years it’s also a ferry point with a rather high traffic volume.
Today’s pictures are taken at a different time of the year than today, but it will undoubtedly set your thoughts on milder temperatures and a coming spring?
Utne er administrasjonssenteret i Ullensvang kommune, men i selve Utne bor det bare ca 160 mennesker!
The settlement of Utne is the administration center of the ‘Municipality of Ullensvang’, but Utne itself has only a population of approximately 160 people!
Relatively steep hillsides with different fruit orchards surround the center of ‘Utne’ . . .
The farms may seem rather small, but they do produce rather large volumes of excellent quality fruits.
And directly below the fruit farms lies the blue ‘Hardanger fjord’ –
Who wouldn’t wish to spend a few quiet days here – away from stress and the noise and pollutions of ‘a modern society’?

Please return me to INDEX for a new destination
And if you follow the road by the sea *Fjord to the Town Odda you will see waterfalls, more fruit gardens and Glaciers up on the steep and high mountains along the fjord!
🙂
Oh boy.. I was just going to ask what sort of fruits were produced when I scrolled down and yet more delights awaited me.. Wonderful photo’s Svein.. and such a idyllic place it looks xxx
These are not my pictures, Sue, but belonging to a good friend over at the west coast.
As you might have observed, I’m publishing pictures belonging to good friends from time to time?
Yes and they are all wonderful additions to your blog my friend.. 🙂
Thank you, Sue!

‘There are rental cabins on the shore line as well as a camping site just outside of the Utne center.’

What a beautiful place. Those apples, grapes, and cherries do make a person think of Spring. Thanks for sharing this wonderful place. Anyone would certainly want to spend some peaceful time in Utne.
Hi PeggyJoan,
I’ve never heard anyone calling them grapes? I think they are called ‘red currants’ in English?
Thanks for the correction. I do see now that they are currants. I raised currants of a different color years ago. Its early morning here in the U.S. and I need to clean my glasses. Ha
I was a bit surprised, I’ll admit, but I’m using glasses too ! 🙂
Hallo Hanna,
