Pictures 110bThe lynx is by far the largest predator in Scandinavia within the ‘cat-family’ ! A silent, nocturnal, and very efficient hunter which lives over most of Norway. However, the total number in Norway alone is estimated to approximately 500 animals.
The weight of this animal varies with sex and biotop from 30 – 50 lbs. This specimen is judged to be approximately 40 lbs.
The lynx need a rather large habitat. The males: About 2000 whereas the females require about half (1000
The smell of food haunts the lynx and it never looses sight of its prey.

The lynx’s diet consist of hare, squirrels, foxes and unfortunately once in a while – sheep, but it may also hit on deer in various sizes.

An imposing aquaintance you’ll long remember!

A grand animal to say the least.

It is, indeed. And I was in luck. Discovered a movement very far away and was able to anticipate which route the lynx would take through the terrain. Which gave me these shots.

  2. Really stunning photos. You have an artist’s eye!!

Thank you so much! And I think you’re right. I have no formal education within photography, but I feel my stronger sides are composition and colors. I also do a bit of macro photography and when the opportunity presents itself – portraits.
Come to think of it: It’s quite some time sice I last used my macro objectives. Perhaps its time again? 🙂

      • We have a saying (it may be universal?) when you want to say that a person has a unique vision, “you have the eye of a lynx”. Well, you have it in more ways than one.

😀 Well, Maurice, like you I have lived for a few years, and I have been fortunate enough to visit more than 70 countries around the world. It would be sad if it didn’t have any impact what-so-ever on me? But the life may be a wonderful thing, even if one is forced to live one day at a time? That’s what we normally do anyway. Only we’re not reflecting over it.
So – nothing is really changed, is it? Coming of age – there is and end to it all, but I prefer it to be a small surprise 🙂

Ahhhh, nydelig!

Beautiful. I have a special admiration for predators who have to survive by hunting. Those keen eyes in the last photo are amazing.

    Welcome back RoSy,
😀 Contrary to the puma, the lynx has not been known to attack people, but it’s one hell of an animal.
It’s a good climber as well as swimmer, and extremely fast when it needs to be.

  7. RoSy says:

Thanks for introducing us. But – I will keep my relationship with this kitty on an online basis only 😉
