Fagernes

Fagernes is the administration center in the community of ‘Nord-Aurdal’ and have retained
a ‘city-status’ since 2015 in spite of the fact that’s only  1483 people is living there.

Fagernes has a terrific location wedged in between the hills at the north end of ‘Strandefjorden’ just where the valleys from Eastern  and Western Slidre meet each other.

Her I have taken a ‘shot’ towards ‘Vesleøya’ , a local leisure area, from the southern part of  the city.

Here a couple of ‘shots’ out over the ‘Strandefjord’. In the back of the picture we may get a hint of details from ‘Leira’ which is another settlement not very far to the south.

Picture 8392Quality Hotel & Resort Fagernes is the largest hotel in the area and has a beautiful view over just ‘Strandefjorden’.

Here I have taken a ‘shot’ across the bay. On the other side we may find ‘Valdres Folks Museum’, which is a tourist goal in itself, thus it warrants its own picture report.

Here is one of the harbours for leisure crafts in ‘Strandefjorden’.

And a tiny beach where the young ones might get their toes wet through the summer

If you’re lucky enough to own a boat, it may be wise to check it out once in a while, or you may wake up to the fact that you are really the owner of a submarine . . .

Here I have taken a picture of ‘Vesleøya’ – this time from the north. From here you may rent a sea plane if needed.
Picture 8404

Here we are on the north side of the stream ‘Kvitvella’, a stream that starts out among the mountains around ‘Eastern Slidre’. This also the place where you decide whether you want to go to ‘Beito’ and/’Valdresflya’, or if you prefer ‘Fillefjell’ and the ‘Western parts of Norway’.

Here a quick ‘shot’ of the eastern bank of ‘Kvitvella’

‘Kvitvella’ itself doesn’t invite to a swimming through it’s lower parts before coming to rest in ‘Strandefjorden’

Yes, there are a few pictures from the city center missing. And they will be implemented at a later date. In the meantime I hope you still have obtained some impressions of Fagernes?

Thank you! May be it will give me new readers in Malaysia? I have visited your country many times over, but – unfortunately it’s getting to be a long way back (1959-63)

      • Welcome, I will add some pictures of Malaysia in the near future or check out my website.🙂

        • That’ll be nice. To Kuala Lumpur I have only been once, but have visited Penang a dozen times. Also Singapore, but that isn’t really ‘Malaysia’, I guess . . .

          • Awesome on the travel. Penang/Georgetown is my main focus and Singapore has its historic connection to Penang. Malaysia and Singapore, are like the “Tale of Two Cities”🙂

I remember I liked both places, but I have been to Singapore at least twice as many times as to Penang. I rfemember I stayed in a hotel called Delphi, then there was something called Cathay and there were the Raffles, but – they might not even exist any more . . .?
